Sydney Stokes Psychologist

A modern approach

The effectiveness of psychological support is widely recognised to be closely linked to the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. My approach is authentic, warm, and compassionate, coupled with a holistic and integrative methodology that draw from the best available evidence-based interventions. This ensures a personalised and comfortable experience for each individual. Some of my favourite modalities include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Schema Therapy. I am a certified facilitator of Secret Agent Society Small Group Program Social Skills Training Institute and a certified Auditory Training ProgramTM Practitioner. I work with a trauma informed practice, I am neurodiversity affirming and safe space for the LGBTQI2S+ community.

My passion is working closely with adolescents and adults, particularly in the areas of anxiety, depression, managing stress, life transitions, adjustment, self compassion, confidence, self esteem, self management, eating disorders, body image, learning difficulties, sensory neuroscience, Autism, and ADHD.

Sydney Stokes Psychologist

Origins

Welcome to Phase Psychology, founded in 2022 by me Sydney Stokes Psychologist and Director. I provide personalised, high-quality psychological support to the community in a comfortable, safe, and confidential setting.

I have over seven years of experience as a registered psychologist, including three years in a dual clinic manager role. My experience includes development and implementation of psychological interventions, psychometric assessments, biofeedback, neurotherapy, and supporting clients and staff to ensure the highest quality standards of care, policy, and procedure were met. This involved conducting compliance audits for NDIS, program development and oversight, and providing regular support to early career practitioners.

I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours. During this phase of my life, my passion for developmental psychology and neuropsychology was born! My course work was heavily influenced by these electives, and my honours thesis explored the role of perfectionism and internalisation of media's ideal image on body satisfaction.

In 2023, I embarked on a new phase of my career, establishing my own private practice. I am so excited for you all to share this journey with me.
